Twitter chat

A twitter community chat is like attending a networking event from the comfort of your couch, library, PJs, or wherever you may be hanging out. It’s 100% virtual - yay!

Our Sunday night events attract side hustlers and entrepreneurs alike in student affairs and higher ed. This is going by far one of the greatest way to meet new folx and pick up some new ideas about creating, launching and/or scaling your own business,

Join us the first Sunday of every month at 5pm PST / 8 pm EST. We feature a different topic every month.

how it works

A Twitter chat is a way that connects people with a pre-determined topic with the help of a moderator or host and featured guests to keep the conversation on track.

Twitter chats use a hashtag to centralize the thread of the conversation in your feed.

how to participate

Log into Twitter or create an account and search the hashtag #SAsidehustle to confirm the time and date of the chat.

To keep track of the conversation easily, consider using a free platform called Tweetdeck.

quick tips

Tweet to your followers in advance to let them know you’re participating in the chat. Sometimes people like to give others a heads up that they will have concentrated tweets for an hour or so time.

At 5pm PST / 8pm EST, the host will welcome all participants and pose a getting-to-know you question.

When the moderator posts a question using Q1, Q2, Q3 in a tweet, answer using the format A1, A2, A3 (answer one, answer two, answer three, etc).

this scheduled twitter chat is not a space for…

This community is not used for “rogue tweets” also known as posts from larger organizations that clearly do not flow with the conversation - the moderator will ask you to delete the tweet. If you’re using the hashtag to only sell or market your products/services without showing up and doing the work, we’ll have a conversation.

We aim to make this a supportive community and if you disagree with this guideline, please direct message the moderator so we can adjust to fit community expectations and needs.

If someone asks you about your business, side hustle or company, continue the conversation in a direct message or away from the hashtag.

We want everyone to eat and be supported, and we want to get to know you as a human first.

Feel free to post and market your product/service outside of the regularly schedule twitter chat.
